The weather has been beautiful during the day and my 7 bantam chicks are going on 4-5 weeks old. I have decided its time to put them outside at least in the day time in the coop. I bought one of those coops from Tractor Supply, and I am concerned about the small wire floor for the chicks. Should I layer with cardboard and shavings? Also I had grown chickens in the coop at one time, should I clean it with a bleach solution first. I plan to bring them in at night because it still gets a bit chilly down into the 40's some nights. Any tips or advice to make the transition outside? This is my first group of chicks..

Yes, it would be a good idea to layer the bottom with cardboard and shavings. You don't want to take the chance of a chick getting its leg stuck. Just to be sure I would clean the coop before you put the chicks in. If they have all their head feathers they would be ok in the coop at night too.
