Today, I moved the stray chicken into the coop (I divided a spot for her). At first, they just acted like she wasn't there.. Then, the roo saw her and started his little dance.. A few minutes later my big BO 'saw' her and went to the fence and just stood there w/ out moving an inch.. Sassy on one side and Big Deloris on the other... staring at each other... Deloris got tired of it and /or found something to munch on... Then came Bea the Barred Rock....for a stare down--but then they started pecking and kicking the fence.. Sassy wasn't backing down and neither was Bea... After being locked in the quarantine coop for four weeks and two days, Sassy seemed happy to have a little room..She pecked, scratched and ran the fence line until it was dark... I am sooooo glad I didn't just put them together.. I'll leave her in the little area for another week and then try to introduce her ...

OR should I wait longer??

see how they act during the next week. If they seem to still posture and pose a lot you may want to give it a few extra days. If not, let them get togeter with some supervision and see how they do. If they peck on her a lot you can seperate them again and maybe just let her run around with one or two less aggressive chickens. Then you can try it again.....Mine did fine that way but I introduced two 'newbies' and had to try a few times. Also left the area they were in open so they could get away if they wanted to.Good luck....

if you can, in a week if they are being good little chickens, let them meet eachother while free ranging or with as much space as possible. good luck let us know how it goes.
