We are in the process of building a larger coop and I thought it was going to be a while before it was ready to move into. Well, it looks as though I can start moving them in by the end of the weekend. I've got a broody on eggs that are due to hatch in a week. The new coop will have a space inside with an attached run for a broody and/or chicks. I'd like to move this hen and her eggs to the broody area before her eggs hatch out. The hen is a real sweet girl and does let me reach under her and even pick her up off the nest and put her back during the day. There is no way to move the nest box and the coop they're in right now is not that stable, so it's going to be torn down.

Shouldn't be a problem. Have the new nest ready and transfer the eggs over to it and then just place her on it. She should settle right in. We do the same with our hens. We have a seperate broody pen and move the hen and eggs a couple of days before hatch is supposed to happen. We might be having to build another pen as we have one hen in there now with week old chicks and 2 more hens setting that should hatch in a week. Oh the joys of natural hatch.
