my hen and her 5 week old chicks currently sleep in a dog kennel inside my coop and all my other girls sleep on their roost bar. I know silkies don't typically go up high on roost bars, so before she had babies she would sleep on a very low ledge on the corner of the coop. Basically on the ground. She and her chicks are well integrated into the flock, but I'm ready to remove the dog kennel as you can see in the picture.

My question is how can I set them up in a new sleeping spot?

Are they still sleeping in there? I would remove the cage and let them figure it out.

I have full size birds, and provide a roost - I try and keep them out of the nests. But other than that - they sleep where they want, and I imagine yours will too.

I fully agree. You can put a nest on the floor if you want, they might or might not use it. But mine sleep on the floor without a nest.
