I have a broody hen that was getting pecked at and bullied by the other hens while she is laying on her eggs. I was watching some videos on how to move her to another location with her eggs. So last night we moved her to a smaller chicken house and she seemed fine last night. She moved them where she wanted them and was sitting on them. This morning I went to check on her and now she isn’t sitting on the eggs. What do I need to do? I’m worried she isn’t going to sit on them now?

:welcome Did you move her to an area with limited space ? It may be necessary to allow her to return to her old nest site and give her the eggs back there. Many hens are more imprinted on the nest site than upon the eggs. Is there any way that you can adjust her original site so that other birds can not access her ?

It’s a small area she can still walk around a little. We tried to put her in a small dog crate that we put bedding in it just like the box she was laying in but she was scared and pacing back and forth. She kept a stepping on the eggs so I didn’t leave her in there long. I’ve had chickens but never had any hens to hatch eggs, do you have any suggestions on how I could separate her besides what I did ?

If she can see her old nest she will try and get back to it. I've always moved them in the dark to a completely different place where they can't see their old coop, run or flock mates if I've needed to separate them completely.

Thanks y’all!! Yesterday when I went back to check on her she was back on her eggs and still on them this morning !!!
