moving my chickens to a recently used pigeon aviary

I'll be moving my 8 hens to a new location which has an aviary the previous owners have used for their pigeons. Will that be safe for my girls or would it present the possibility of disease.

How long ago were pigeons housed in the coop/aviary? If you are concerned, clean thoroughly (wearing a fine particle mask as pigeon dander can cause serious allergic reactions) and spray with a 10 % chlorox solution again being careful to not breath in the mist.

The pigeons were just removed last week. Thank you for your recommendations on properly cleaning the coop. I will definitely do that.
