Hey there, I am planning on moving my Silkie chicks out at 6 week old, which will be next week.

There’s been a bit of a heatwave, highs in the 80s (some days it’s even going to get to 90/95.) The low temps are in the mid/high 60s.

My question is, at what age do silkies get “fully feathered”? Do they get fully feathered? Will they get too warm with 90 degree weather? Will 66 be too cold if they get used to the 90s? The temperatures will probably drop back down after this heat wave, will they be ok in 50 or so degree temperatures at night if they’re used to 60 degrees? So sorry for all the questions.

Screenshot of forecast: (I’m planning to move them full out on Saturday, they’ve been spending their days outside but come in during the night)

They should be fine. Just keep an eye on them and look for any signs of stress. I don't think you'll have any problems though.
Make sure they have plenty of water and shade.

Thanks! The setup looks like this until I get them integrated with the other hens. (Which I’m slowly doing but takes me awhile, and I want to be careful because silkies are smaller)
50% of it is covered, (equaling shade) while the other half has access to sun.

That looks good! Those silkies are so cute. 🥰
