Grown up on the farm so this is not new......but some may not be aware....so here goes.

When you have livestock and yes chickens are classified as livestock. You May get both friendly visitors and those who consider our chicken as a food menu item.

This little guy is considered a pest more then a predator. Since my girls are in molt, I have been feeding them scrambled eggs oats and various grubs as supplement as I do not allow free ranging until molt is nearly complete, I live in a migratory hawk route.

This young skunk got a hard lesson in still being in the coop when the hens woke up and came out of their house to confront this little stinker. Zoom in and you will find two bloody spots on the back of his neck, I had to save this critter from the girls!

Since this was a juvenile skunk it could fit between the fence bars. Not once did he try to spray the chickens or me when I had to lift the escape door and hold it up for it to escape their incessant pecks. I believe the education they gave him will keep this skunk from coming back to these ferocious feathered dinosaurs ever again. This coop has wire completely under the whole coop. No holes found, size tells me it slipped right between the bars. Not worried too much about young skunks....raccoons now those critters will not share the same space as my chickens all will be caught and transferred to a wildlife management area away from farms.

I have had skunk issues in the past. We are rural on a dead end road and have been the recipients of other peoples relocations including skunks. I'm glad you have an area you can take your relocations. Good luck and have fun...

I never have been one to look at getting rid of my nuisance animals to relocate them to be another's problem. relocation should always be accomplished by looking for suitable wild habitat far away from suburbia or farms or rural area homesteads.

:goodpost:This was dropped off at the end of my driveway on the side of the road. It's a gosling, so not all are bad. I'm sure it was dropped off because they knew I have chickens because I sell my eggs.
