Muddy Ducks

My ducks are outside and they have 2 kiddie pools to play in. Well, it's week 3 and it's nothing but a mud hole! I'm wondering what people (and ducks) prefer around the pool......Sand or pea gravel? Would love your input! Thanks......

I use a mixture of both called 'concrete mix' or 'mortar mix' - its primarily sand with pea gravel mixed in. The only problem with the sand is that if its not deep enough, they will slog their way through it with their bills and get to the mud/clay/much underneath.

The best thing around the pond I've seen is a deck - you can spray it off and they can't get to or play in the mudpoo(tm).
