We have a 20ftx35ft pen set up for our ducks. It was grass they have ruined that, it’s now mud. We added some river rock to help with drainage but it is still mud and slippery everywhere else. Any suggestions on what to do for ground coverage? We are letting them free range more but they are confined to the pen most of the day. We did straw last winter and that sucked for spring clean up. Debating using some mulch, possible pallets to lift them on the ground completely (covering in the gaps of course) any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Maybe try a different ground cover? I have a flourishing contingent of weeds in my duck pen

:welcome We have that very same problem and with all the extra rain this year things have been a real muddy mess.

Depending on how many ducks you have for your 20'x35' pen, Maybe you could fence off half of that and give that area of ground time to recover from all the duck activity.

I like to plant cheap bird seed and wheat seed on our bare muddy ground and that seems to germinate quickly and grow and our ducks love the new lush green vegetation.

A side from having an endless amount of green grass and or weeds available for your ducks so they can't overgraze it all at once, I am not sure if there is a perfect solution for the muddy mess? Best of luck. :)
