Hi all,
Unfortunately Ginger is back on the thread. I have had her inside for a little over a week or so now. I moved her to the infirmary pen, and then the weather got bad so she’s been hanging out in the bathtub. Currently, her feet, especially one of them, are tightened up and she can’t stand or walk properly. I will post a picture below. she hasn’t eaten much in the last couple of days, so I can’t help but wonder if she’s feeling weak (or if there is another reason her feet are closing up). I put some applesauce in there today, and she has just started nibbling on that some. She looks alert and is still drinking some water, I started putting electrolytes in it when she stopped eating. For a while now, she has needed a little spa treatment every two weeks or so because her stool is getting matted in her fluffy butt feathers and then collecting other things and it’s just a mess. When I first brought her in, she seemed to really perk up. She does feel a little thin. She is over three years old. I don’t think she’s laid an egg in a while. This is all I can think of for now! Any help is greatly appreciated, I would love for her to feel better!

Is this the same hen that had an upright position, and a swollen lower belly earlier? Her swollen ankles could possibly be from Mycoplasma Synoviae, a chronic mild respiratory disease that causes infectious arthritis. How do her hock joints look? Does she have any sore on her breastbone from lying around?

I don’t feel a sore on her breastbone but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. I gave her some Nutri-Drench this morning by syringe. She’s not eating or drinking so far today. But just a few minutes ago she started sort of slightly twitching her head constantly, seems uncontrollably? Her stool was white this morning. I gave her a warm bath this morning, because she had gotten her food on her yesterday and also because of the stool stuck on her feathers. She seemed pretty lethargic before this but seemed much more alert until this head twitch started.
