So, I plucked a batch of wild purple muscadines and today was the day to heat up the kitchen with the sweet, sweet summer aroma of ripe muscadines! Not many of us in our 30s do this kinda thing anymore. I thank my granny for all those days she let me by her side, smashing as many grapes as we ate so many years ago.

A friend just gave me some. I cannot believe I had never tried it before. My mom always made every kind but this. It is so good. I don't like jelly much but this was more like a topping.

When we where kids, my grandma used to send all the grandkids down to the creek to pick wild grapes. Everybody had their pails which we would fill and then dump in the number5 washtub. We then would refill our buckets and hual/drag the washtub back to the house. Grandma would can most of the grapes for use later and made small batches of jelly as needed. I remember one of the worst whoopings I ever got was for getting into her juice and drinking it straight out of the jar.

To me nothing beats muscadine jelly, unless its blackberry which I have picked many a wash tub full of those also.

Was looking for a Muscadine Jelly thread and I found this one. I was given a lot of muscadine and I plan to make some jelly. I have found a few recipes to try.

Anyone else making muscadine jelly now?
