Muscovy breaking eggs...

Hey all. Currently dealing with this issue and wanna see if anyone has an advice/ideas.

My Muscovy duck Hersey was a rescue (from a few months back) and is extremely timid. She gets along fine with the other ducks, but everything and anything freaks her out.

Recently now when she gets spooked, she runs to the nest boxes to hide and freaks out. She's smashed several eggs doing this and I'm at a loss as to how to stop her (or calm her down).

I was thinking of possibly adding a bar to the nest boxes to stop her knocking the eggs out, but I doubt that will stop her actually smashing them. Any tips?

No, she gets spooked and flaps/runs through the nest boxes. I don't think it's intentional. I have yet to see her or the other ducks eat them either.

Unfortunately with the 'winter' season coming in (if you can call it that in FL) they lay kind of sporadically right now.

Maybe add other hiding areas like a small dog house so that she has options to hide in.

I swear sometimes I just need someone to bounce ideas off of! Some things seem so difficult until someone points it out . Then it's like 'Oh, duh!".

A piece of plywood laid up against the wall and secured like half a teepee. I've made plenty of things like that for my Muscovy to lay their eggs in. Since mine like their privacy. So maybe she'd use one to hide out in.
