I have a muscovy duck who has been sitting on her eggs for at least 6 weeks. I know I should yank her off of them but it seems heartless. I have found two dead ducklings in the yard so far- not sure what happened. Is she just a psycho duck? Should I try to break the news to her that these eggs are never going to hatch? I never see her drinking - I toss her some food every morning - she is under the chicken coop - but I can't get water in there to her. Will she sit there forever or give up on her own at some point?
