One of my ducklings started hatching last night (2 days early) I noticed it had pipped so I upped the humidity and went to bed.. this morning I got up it had made a little hole where the pip was but other than that no change. I took a peek in the hole and saw the membrane was stuck to his beak and over his nostrils so I opened the hole a little more to remove it away in which it would open and close its mouth but didnt make any sounds.. i didnt want to do much else because there are still veins in the membrane so I placed a damp paper towel over the opening i made and put it back. Now, 12 hours later still no change. Im getting worried because the membrane is starting to dry out despite my efforts and the chick is covered in amber goo.. (which I removed as much of that as I could from the opening I had to work with)
Any thoughts or suggestions?
