My 3 year old White Muscovy hen started he clutch very early last year, her first egg was laid on March 8th.

I gave it to my silkie hen to try and incubate, she never did though.
Well anyways, yesterday I was putting fresh hay in the coop and saw the same muscovy hen checking out the nesting boxes, I thought that maybe it was because of the fesh hay but I had only ever seen her acting like that when she was getting ready to lay before so I was confused. Well today I found this in the hay-

Pretty much a clone of last year's egg. I would incubate it but there is a zero percent chance that it is fertile, the drakes aren't even mating yet it's so early. She has started laying before my Mallard derived ducks. Every other hen that I have had started laying in late April-May.

I will check for you before I eat it. I will be really surprised if it is fertile, half the clutch she laid last spring wasn't, my drakes are slow.

Or perhaps the converse - your hens are fast.
