Even before I was interested in scovies, I still did not like the idea. The breed is simply an amazing breed, so versatile, so durable and of course, so tastey. Sure, they're ugly, but it's hard not to like the breed. They're quiet, good foragers, etc. I know of at least three people who've had them JUST for their gardens, as natural pest control without killing the plants off. I can understand that they would want to prohibit release of the scovies into the wild, but I don't understand why they would prohibit them completely. That's so off the wall and crazy that I honestly thought that it was a big scam. Thinking that it was a scam was even with knowing that the USDA will knock on your door and confiscate snails if you've had restricted snail species shipped across state lines, even in Ohio where they haven't been proven to survive. So, anyways, the scovy thing is totally ridiculous and foolish.
