Hello!
I'm a chicken owner, but have never kept ducks. In about 2 months, my family and I are moving to an organic farm in New England and we're interested in keeping some Muscovies to help keep the tick and mosquito population down. I'm not interested in guinea fowl.

We have a deer fenced garden of vegetables but then there are unfenced beds of garlic and asparagus as well as peach trees, apple trees, grapes and blueberry bushes. There are also 3 horses on the property and there will be 2 babydoll sheep plus a number of chickens.

The whole property is about 5 acres. Some of it is fenced and some of it isn't. I know Muscovies are good flyers, so I'm guessing I'll have to clip their wings in order to keep them on the property at all. However, what's the best way to go about having the ducks range to help with the insect problem but not eat my unprotected plants? Is this even possible or am I asking for miracles?

Thanks for helping a novice duck owner!
