Well of my 30 or so ducks, I have 8 that are still hanging out in the duck coop at night. The rest bailed for the pond.... I noticed that 4 are crowded on top of a tote which is used as a nesting box ( currently by a chicken with chicks. One hen is sitting on eggs in another open top box, and three are in the middle of the coop. The coop is a hoop coop. there is the front and maybe 6 inches all around the bottom that are not covered by a tarp. So those on top the tote are protected from raccoon arms etc. those in the middle are also protected as well as the one in the box who is about a foot off the ground. I was thinking maybe installing a ladder roost or something to keep everyone off the floor and away from mice or predator arms. Any ideas? not sure how large the poles need to be or if some sawhorses and a board would be better... if so what size board?
