I have a muscovy hen which is about 1 yr old. She hatched off one brood earlier in the year. Now she has built a nest. I have observed her plucking feathers and everything and she even sits on it some during the day. However, she hasn't laid a single egg in it. This has been going on for 2 or 3 weeks. I have never had a bird that was not laying start trying to set. Has anyone else seen this? I have considered that something may be getting her eggs. However, that seems unlikely because I am collecting eggs every day from the pen from the other birds with no sign of an egg eater. I have also checked the nest immediately after she got off of it several times. She seems to get around fine, although I have wondered if she could be egg bound or something. Does anyone have any ideas??

I have 2 Muscovy hens doing the same thing, they both hatched ducklings earlier this spring and about 3 weeks ago went broody again but no eggs. They look good come out all fluffed up do their broody poop eat swim and back in the nest they go side by side. I tried to lock them out 2 days in a row, but finally said what the heck they'll get over it. But this is a first for me too and I have had ducks 9 yrs.

as long as your duck looks good and is acting okay as far as eating etc. I guess she'll finally get over it. I'm thinking mine will.

I had a scovy who was broody on nothing for 5 months straight. Seriously. She ate, swam and pooped once a day and was back on her nest.
