My muscovy has been water logged for the past month, my other two look great so I don’t know what’s happening. She just started laying a month ago, they eat all flock feed, sides of calcium & grit, and her preen gland doesn’t look off, but i’m not an expert. I also didn’t see any parasites on her. I just hardly see her preen herself anymore :(

I do notice she’s been scratching the back of her head a lot and she’s starting to look like she’s going bald. So i’m going to treat for lice and see if that helps.

Any advice would be great!

My Muscovy always look waterlogged a couple months before they have their big molt in the fall. Has she had her molt yet this year? How old is she asking because mine usually start laying around 8-9 months old. And they molt in Sept -Oct.

She’s about 5 months old now, I’m not sure if they had a big molt yet but i’m in texas.

She probably won't molt until next year since she is only 5 months old but she will have mini molts just not the big one where they lose their flight feathers. What are you feeding some extra protein can help with feather quality, Dried mealworms cat or dog kibble [good quality] small size.
Her preen gland shoul have a yellow oily color around it. If you suspect her preen gland isn't working you can use warm wet cloths (wring out extra water) to lay on top for a few minutes a couple times a day to help get the oil started.
