Anyone know if these are real Oysters they were growing on dead trees and definitely smell like oysters lol

Answer: I don't know. There are definite similarities.

Additional Detail: I've begun (8 months ago) in my own efforts to start raising mushrooms for my own consumption. As part of the 12 months leading up to that effort (thus far, a failure), I've done a lot of reading. The only consistent message? Even experts routinely miss identify mushrooms based on photos.

Thanks for the link. I will have to work my way through it.

The only mushrooms I dare pick and eat are morels. Yes, I know there are false morels, but I've only found the real ones near me. A few years ago, we found some HUGE white ones, at least 8" tall.

No such luck recently, however. The morel gods have been stingy the last couple of years.
