I found this in my yard this morning. I have never seen one like it and I was just curious what it is.

not lions mane, that is a yellow pored mushroom. It probably belongs to the genus Boletus but I can't tell you the species name. you probably don't have the mushroom anymore but you could use this key to ID it https://www.mushroomexpert.com/boletes.html . with that photo I can't tell if it has a veil so I only got to step 2, you need to check the stem and possibly other younger specimens that are growing near it

It may be a lion's mane but I'm no expert because I almost died eating a mushroom I thought was benign.

When I was a kid, and older relative picked mushrooms to eat. They had never been sick from mushrooms that I was aware of, and I'm pretty sure they only picked mushrooms in the same locations each year - so familiarity played a role. But, they were clear to say the following:

"There are old mushroom pickers and there are bold mushroom pickers. But, there are no old and bold mushroom pickers".

As a kid, I still thought mushrooms were gross, so I couldn't understand why anyone would seek them out.

That's the same thing the doctor told me when I came out of the coma.
Mushrooms are extremely nutritious with compounds contained in no other food. I grow them and eat mushrooms every day.
I eat for nutrition, not for fun. Eventually I crave the nutritious things.
I haven't used sugar in 40 years. I haven't had a soda/pop in 30 years. I don't eat cake or candy other than 92%+ dark chocolate.

Yikes!!!!

As an adult, I know mushrooms are good nutrition, but as a kid....well, that was lower priority than tastes and looks.

Glad you are doing great!
My heart rate was 180 and my blood pressure was zero over zero. My friends were told, "he could die tonight or he could die tomorrow, but he's going to die". The next day I felt fine. Luckily one of the people I was with found the mushrooms and took them to the hospital. And luckily, the doctor on call was one they called the oddball expert. He told me the mushroom was normally benign unless preceded by heavy alcohol consumption. Then it's deadly.

To this day, I can't believe I drank Chocola as a kid - and my parents let me do it. Yet I survived that too. It was a chocolate flavored soft drink that was probably all artificial.
Luckily there were other foods that were good for me I liked and I continue to eat today.
