Hello I'm raising backyard chickens for the first time. I have no idea of what to do. I live in Modesto CA and relocating to Boaz Alabama next month. I want to know if I can take the chickens with me? I am driving. Thank you for your support.

You could take them with you. At least I would.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! There is no reason why you can't take them with you in the car. A suitable secure travel box with plenty of air and they should be fine. If your journey is very long I would just make sure you stop regularly to feed and water them. Also depending where you are moving to just checking the local chicken laws would be a good idea to make sure they do allow chickens. It would be heartbreaking getting them there only to be told you can't keep them.

Wishing you the very best of luck. Hope you enjoy BYC :frow

I'm glad you joined us.

Yes, you should be able to take them with you, if you have the room. Make sure they travel in a well-ventilated box, and they should be fine.

As long as chickens are allowed where you're going, you should certainly be able to take them.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to our flock. I agree with the other members; take them with you. :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in transporting your flock.

P.S. Just be aware that moving is a shock to their systems and may delay their laying for awhile.
