As I looked at my two bantams yesterday, a White Crested Blue Polish and a Mille Fleur D'Uccle, the thought crossed my mind; what if they bred? What kind of wild looking birds would we end up with? Which got me thinking about mutts and crosses and I thought "Wow! I want to see some interesting mixes!" So post away - show off your cool, weird, funky mixed birds!

Nearly my entire flock is mixed...I love to see what "comes out!" Here are two that I noticed today...I thought that they were both hens but one is a Roo...I wonder what would happen if I bred them?

Maybe it will be a project for next year? Terri O

(PS) the best thing about breeding chickens is that you can eat the mistakes! (or in my case at least the eggs!)

I have a friend that lets her chickens free range when she is not wanting to breed, and she had one hen disapear and come back with babies. The hen was a bantam Fav. hen and she thinks the father was a bantam black cochin. She said the chicks have grown up to look like bantam Langshans she said she was going to keep them and work on them and see if she can get them to breed true.
