Ok, I have 3 1.5 mth old chicks that I just got last weekend. I didnt really notice if they had loose stool then, but they do now. It is kind of a rusty red color and I saw a couple piles w/ a little bit of blood in it. My question is, could it be stress that is causing this or is it something else. I was wondering if it was stress because of the change in environment, food, and company. Also, I have a hen that has been rushing their pen. They are so afraid when she does that. What should I do? I also started them on D.E. today. Please help me. I dont want them to die. Thank you~Tacey

More info please...where did you get the chicks from...was the place clean...what were they feeding and what are you feeding?????

I got them from a breeder, her place was really clean. I picked them up. She was feeding a gamebird grow crumble just like mine. But a different brand. I let them out 2 days ago and they rolled around in the dirt and played in the grass. Do you think they could have picked something up from that? Or can it still be stress related?

Are you familiar with cocci? The treatment is Corid, which is amprolium. Cocci are everywhere, in the dirt. Coccidiosis is the full name of the condition. Plenty of info on here. It is likely this is the problem, and if it is and you do not treat, they could die.

Standard chick starter feed is often medicated with amprolium, but some have reported here that they have had to treat for cocci even though they are feeding medicated feed. I have no idea whether game bird feed is medicated.

Thank you, I looked at the poop link that you provided it is great help. I was wondering I watched them today. They dont seem to have any other simptoms. So If they were to have cocci, would they continue to have the bloody stool? Mine dont have it today. Please let me know, thanks.
