my 1st broody hen, what do I do?

she's several years old, has picked her favorite nest box and hasn't moved in 4 days.
but she only has one egg under her. I've been leaving it under her thinking that when it doesn't hatch she'll stop brooding.

Is this the right way to go about it? or should I take it away?

I here that doing what you are doing is the best way! When it doesn't hatch she will know and will get up and leave it!

What if it hatches?

You can break a hen of the broody behavior sometimes; you would need to research which method to use.

I just leave my hen in a nestbox--she keeps changing boxes so I don't leave any eggs.
