My 2 year old rooster died suddenly

This afternoon I found my bantam rooster crest a pale pink, his beak was open and he was panting. This morning he was fine. It has been cold lately in Florida and he may have been stressed not sure. He is kept in a run and has a coop. I gave him some electrolytes but maybe too late. He was 2 years old. He passed away after I gave him electrolytes in a syringe.
 
Welcome to BYC. Sorry for your loss. Did he seem to choke on the electrolytes? I prefer to hold a small cup up to the beak and let them sprinkle on their own. Others use a spoon to the side of the beak and drip it in where they will swallow. You also can insert the syringe into the back and left side of the throat and give fluids directly into the esophagus. See this link for a picture:

Do you have other roosters or larger hens who could have injured him? If you send his body , kept cold, to the state vet, they can do a necropsy to help you find out what was wrong. Here is a list of state vets to contact:
