My 5 mo Welsumer hen looks all ready but still no laying!

Two days shy of a month from when you thought she was ready. Wow now i feel letdown as i have a couple of pullets that i feel should be laying ! I just opened my nestboxes up two days ago. Guess i might be jumping the gun a bit here. But congrats on yours finally laying !

She finally laid today (the darker one in the middle), so 6.5 months.
She laid in the run instead of the nest. Some of my hens did that when they first laid, but then got used to using the nest. Hopefully, this one will do the same.

I almost gave up, and thought "Whatever! Spring then".

Update: She skipped one day, then the 2nd egg was laid in the nest, good girl! !!

My chickens that were hatched in May 2022 just started laying.....and I am sure it is because their "normal" egg laying time around the 6 month mark landed in the middle of winter.
