My 8 month old rooster is not effectively fertilizing the hens.

My 8mo old Am Bresse roo is missing the mark when mounting the hens. He is not getting down to where he needs to be to effectively fertilize the hens. He does everything else a roo is hoped to do. And is very kind to humans ( and aside from being quite nice looking) my hens are from 8-12 months And are American Bresse , RIR, Wyandotte, and Sussex. All laying regularly. He is one of two Roos and is the top of pecking order. Will he eventually get this right?
