Meet Sumi, my adorable 4 week old chick. I am trying to figure out who the daddy might be, as the chick is a mixed breed. My mother in law mated our roosters with her hens while my Silkie & Mille Fleur happened to be broody. I do not know what breed the mama is, only that Sumi came from a standard sized beige egg. The choices for the daddy are a grey Silkie, Mille Fleur Bearded D'uccle and a White Crested Black Polish. Coloring seems to align with a Mille Fleur but the head poof looks like maybe a Polish?
I am pretty sure my baby is a roo, given there is already wattles showing, fancy tail feathers, and likes to instigate fights with his siblings a lot.

Thanks for your input 😊

Beautiful boy!

Silkie father is my vote. That crest is not polish.

Half silkies can inherit leg colour, skin colour and number of toes, and foot feathering from the other parent. Comb is more complex because the walnut hides genes from all other comb types.

The mother cannot be a silkie or polish if the egg was brown.
