my amberlinks are trouble

If they won't stay under the light, then they're too hot. Give them plenty of room to move to & from the light & they will find the perfect spot with the perfect temperature. If they stay in the corner, maybe your heat lamp is way too hot, & they can't move away any farther. Better check things out with a thermometer, maybe?

Mine are usually only directly under the light for short periods of time. They are usually scattered throughout the brooder. Sometimes I find them sleeping close together and sometimes by themselves. Much like my 1 year old hens.

thank you for all your help and, yes i do have a pen thats big enough for them.I just thought it was weird for chicks to sleep outside than inside the pen.
