I got some new chicks a few days ago. all are supposed to be pullets.
I have noticed that my 2 Ancona chicks are feathering out at very different rates. they are both the same size/age but one has lots of wing feathers and some tail feathers coming in and the other still has little stubby wing feathers and no tail.
does this mean that 1 of them is a boy? or do some of them just grow feathers at very different rates?

Usually boys do develop much slower, so chick B might be a boy.

that's what im worried about. I have had horrible luck so far this year with chicks turning out to be roos. this is my 2nd batch of chicks. with the first batch of sexed pullets I bought earlier this year, 5 out of the 8 have now grown into cockerels. these chicks are from a different source so im hoping to have better luck but the slow feathering chick has me worried.

No two chicks develop at exactly the same rate. Its not a reliable form of sexing. Anconas being in the Mediterranean class will develop comb early. So if one starts developing a lot of comb at say 4 weeks or so then you've likely got a cockerel.

females usually have longer wings and tails at a young age
