Justino - I am sick with jealously. Good for you!

A number of years ago, I sold a vintage Les Paul guitar that I still miss dearly to this day. Les Pauls have such thick, warm tone that you can't really replicate with any other guitar.

I play Stratocasters primarily, and while they have a lot of great tones, Les Pauls do one tone better than anything else. But they are heavy on the shoulders which compresses your lungs, making it harder to take deep breaths while singing AND playing.

What a wonderful day you had! He sounds like a very nice man. I am sure he thought of it as a way to get to know you. Maybe he can listen to you play some time? My DS plays also and I can't wait to show him your new guitars!
