Ok guys, a few of my chickens have been falling ill. And I need your help identifying the problem and saving my flock. Here's the timeline...

First victim was 3 weeks ago, a cockerel about 4 months old, one morning he came out of the coop for breakfast walking like he was drunk. I noticed he had a large lump on his leg so I thought maybe he just fell off the roost and hurt himself. He slowly walked less and less, ate laying down, and so I separated him with some mycin abx water and gave corid just in case I could try and stop whatever it was. He was gone within 4 days. He just slowly got worse and worse.

Second victim, another cockerel from the same farm, same hatch, same age walked out of the coop doing the same thing two mornings ago. Walking like he was drunk eating laying down, falling on his wings. I've had him separated as soon as I saw him showing symptoms. I started him on the same thing as the last one.

Third victim, another cockerel. From the same frikken farm/hatch, same age. Started walking a little funny this evening. Showing the same early signs as the other two.

What the hell is going on, can I save them at this point? Second victim is not drinking or eating much at this point. I'm afraid I'm going to lose them all. They've all been in the same coop, same run, ate the same scratch feed/crumble, same waterer. I did have sand in the coop that I've taken out last week and switched to straw/hay and they seem to like it a lot better. Nothing is different for any of them.. I did notice after a bad rain the other day I has some small fuzzy white spots in the yard that the dew stuck too. I was thinking it was possible mold or spider webs but I'm not really sure.

I just don't understand why now it's like running rampant and they are dropping so fast. I have nutridrench on hand and I have some save a chick electrolytes but I'm not sure how I can get them to take it if they are starting to not eat/drink. I haven't seen any bloody poop either. Should I treat the whole flock?? Also, I have two ducks in the flock too. Everyone has the same water, food, run, coop.

Have you contacted the farm? If those were my chicks I sold, I’d want to know what’s going on ASAP.
I haven't contacted the lady, she sells so many animals... Daily!

Merek's came to mind too, but wouldn't they have shown symptoms before now? And wouldn't others from different hatches be dropping too?

I have a mix of crumble flock raiser with scratch feed... I just remembered I do throw out some oyster shells in the run for my laying hens. But that won't cause this would it??

Have you considered botulism?
Some of their symptoms sound like a possibility. They need to drink plenty of water to flush it out of their system. It doesnt always help though.

They can get botulism from spoiled or moldy feed, or feeding on maggots that are feeding on a carcass. Generally they get a limber neck which is another name for botulism.

It sounds like possible Mareks to me as well because of the ages and symptoms. Moldy feed could be possible. Most state poultry vets will do testing and a necropsy for a minimal fee. If any more are sick, keep the body cold but not frozen, and contact the take state vet for a necropsy.

Botulism usually starts at the feet then the wings and neck become flaccid and paralyzed. It comes from eating dead animal or fish remains, and maggots associated with that that has been buried under ground or under water. Mold in feed can cause neurological signs similar to Mareks.
