Well, I guess I need to give credit to the broody that has been keeping them warm! We found her sitting on the nest 2 weeks ago but didn't know how long she had already been there. I have been checking her every couple of days just in case. I got home from work yesterday and found half of an empty shell outside the nest! I got so excited. Grabbed my cell phone and took a few pics. She has 9 eggs and two have hatched. In fact, the second was 1/2 way out of the shell when I lifted mama up to check.
I'm so in love!

You'd think this was my first hatch. I can hardly wait to see what she has when I get home tonight!

Mama is a Blue OEGB.

You can see the chick part way out under her!

The first two appear to be hers. When she was up a week ago, DH took a pic of the eggs in the nest. Most are the same color, but two or three were a little different shade. We're not sure if one of the other bantam hens would have crawled in her super-secret hidden nest and laid an egg there. Her nest is in a wood pallet on the ground. (Yes, she's tiny!) We have a beautiful Blue OEGB roo, so it is possible a few of the babies will be full Blue OEGB.

We have a Golden Laced OEGB roo and a Silver Sebrite roo. It will be interesting to see what the rest of them look like.

I'm glad everyone likes my little girl. I think she's great! We have another broody hen...a Gold Laced OEGB. I gave her 3 bantam eggs, an EE egg and a Wellsummer egg. She's "due" in 2 weeks. THEN we have a standard size hen that went broody 2 days ago. I think we're going to give her the 7 duck eggs that are in the 'bator. She can keep em warm for the next 16 days and then raise them. Spring Chickens at my house! ...and ducks!
