Hi y'all,

I have four chicks who will be five weeks old tomorrow. I have them in a homemade cardboard brooder (about 1.5' by 3.5') in my bedroom. Their bedding is dried leaves, mostly willow oaks, from my backyard. At this point, though, their bedding is probably about half chick feed

. They also have a corner of the brooder that's dirt from the yard for grit and dust-bathing.
They have sticks for roosting, fresh water and chick feed, and everyday I feed them a little treat like greens, grape pieces, bugs or other little treats that seem 'ok' according to BYC knowledge.
They seem happy, are curious and active, love chasing each other for treats, napping, dust bathing, etc. Their poops look normal except every once in a while I'll see one that looks like a cecal poop mixed with a regular poop (is that normal?)

So why am I writing this thread? Well, every once in a while I'll hear one of them sneeze. I'm concerned by reading other threads that this could mean something is wrong? They don't seem to be snotty or anything, but they do sometimes rub their noses on the ground or on the cardboard walls. This is obviously adorable, but I'm concerned that it might be another sign of sickness or impending sickness.

What do you all think? Does something need to change?

Chicks may sneeze from dust from pine shavings or chick feed, or an ammonia odor in the brooder or coop. If they sneeze occasionally, it's just like you and me, probably normal. Sick chickens will act sick, and sit puffed up or huddled.
