they're so cute! i can only have 4 - 5 chickens....and i'm ordering 5 EE, 1 BO, 1 silver cuckoo maran, and 1 WC. i am SO tempted to just keep all the EE!! but i specifically picked all the breeds for different reasons....the WC, cuz i think they're cute and fluffy....the BO cuz i think they're cute and fluffy too, the SCM for the dark brown eggs. but then i would only be able to keep 1 or 2 EE! i seriously don't know what to do. any advice?

I have 24 EEs, these are just a few that are in the pics. I'd have way to many pics to post if I put a pic of each chick up. and I have 6 cochins and a partridge rock hen too, there 2 years old and laying so I get eggs everyday.

so what the heck should i do! lol!

it's so hard to pick! i know, i know, it's ultimately my decision.....but it's frustrating. maybe it's a good thing i DON'T live out in the country, i'm mighty afraid i'd have to have at least 50 chickens! seriously! anyway, all my babies are coming next week! yea!! should be here on tuesday (hopefully).

cuz i don't live in the country and i have limited space AND i'm illegal to begin with. hubby would have a fit if i added more than 5.....and i can understand....but it's still frustrating!

Wait and see, sum of your EEs might be roos and then you can choose. I'm not going to keep all my chicks but then I know at least 6 are roos becouse I order 6 roos, 6 hens and 13 st. run. the roos are going to be bug eaters and the hens are going to be my layers. and I might eat a few of the roos. it all comes down to how many roos I end up with.

i say keep them all lol.

were only supposed to have 5 hens in our municipality (And even thats shady right now as there in process of changing the law and dont like to grandfather things here...lol)
but we talked to our 2 neighbors, (were ontop of a hill with 3 neighbors, 1 we dont know, 1 at a diagnoal from us, and 1 directly next door...)the ones we asked have NO problem with the chickens, as long as we dont keep a roo (which we cant by law and i wouldnt want to alert the authorities to my ninjas lol)

so after some thought we figured cost on coup and dad decided, "whos going to know...and realy...wholl care?" thats when the 8 x 8 coop was born and were going to be keeping 10 lol.

we dont have much land, but were out of the way and they will only be allowed to free range supervised due to hawks, but honestly, if you can afford the extras...why not?
unless someone complains, noones going to say anything...

I agree. Be a renegade and keep a few more. I always have and have never run into any trouble. The only reason the laws exist IMHO is so that we don't have backyard chicken hatcheries sprouting up all over, with 400 chickens in a regular city lot backyard. Now THAT would be a problem. But 10 chickens in a house and run large enough to give them elbow room and clean enough so they don't stink up the yard or attract rats and there's no problem that I can see. I am the most boringly law-abiding citizen in every other way, but I love chickens so much, I can't fathom having just the 3 that the city allows.
