it couldn’t hatch on it own , so we had to help it but today my dad decided to put the chicken out with other babies but it already weak i was hoping he wouldnt when i woke up, it looked fine when i looked but hours go by i see it isolated from the others , getting pecked on , & stepped on & he said one of eyes are gone not sure or the wound we see is just close by & the other eye dont look that open , wouldnt it be better to keep the baby chick inside for a while under the heat to see if gain better mobility? but he think it wise to put it under the broody hen & so it wont get detached from the others although the only problem with that is when the other babies move and the broody chicken follows while the weak chick gets isolated again and can hardly walk.

I always keep a hen and her new chicks separated for a week or two until the chicks get strong enough to keep up. Other hens will kill chicks. They can't get away easily until they get a bit stronger. Keeping them separate also helps everyone to bond, and allows the chicks to eat chick feed for those first critical weeks

Makes sense bc atleast with the other 5 newborns they were able to run away after getting pecked , the only difference with this one its weaker and couldn’t hatch on its own.

That makes it more important to keep them separate for a while.

Appreciate it , I’ll keep it in mind i dont want the same mistake to happen to the others , we’re new to hatching baby chicks with already grown chickens. I’m more mindful as my dad just doing what he thinks is right at the moment.
