My baby died....

I lost a hen this weekend. 15 months old. I deduce that it was the heat. We've had 105+ days here and though they get fresh water everyday and food and frozen fruits etc, in this heat maybe it was inevitable. She was a barred rock. My leghorns are doing fine but i worry about my other barreds. I now have 6 hens total. Originally 8 but surprise we got a rooster. Regardless, my girls arent laying like they used to. The day before the death they layed 3 eggs. Day of 5 eggs...day after 3 eggs and today only 2 eggs. Is it the heat? Is it stress? What could it be? Once in a while we get a slow day of only 4-5 eggs but never this few. I worry about my girls. Are they sick? They are all eating and acting normal. Maybe I'm stressing over nothing. I just dont want to lose anymore girls...

Sorry about your loss. Where in this world are you located? Are you providing fresh, cool water throughout the day? Are you seeing a lot of feathers around? If so, they could be going into molt. I've had my flock go into molt this early in a really hot summer although it is a bit unusual.
