I have a bantam D'Anvers hen who has never fit in anywhere. The other bantams in the bantam coop beat her up, I put her with another D'Anvers hen and roo and they beat her up... So, she's lived alone for a little while.

In them meantime I got some EE's who are probably about 4 months old now and 3 times her size. I let my D'Anvers roam the yard when I'm home and she'd been hanging out around their coop when I opened the door to change their water. She walked in and one of the EE's immediately ran over and pecked her in the head.

This tiny little hen puffed herself up and and proceeded the beat the stuffing out of all 4 of those EE's!!!! I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. Now they are all huddled in the corner and she's completely ignoring them, just eating and going about her business. I think she's found her new home ;-)

So apparently when adding new chickens to a coop size really DOESN'T matter!
