My barred rock pullet has a mohawk?

My 5 week old barred rock pullet has a mohawk while the other one doesnt. Just curious

That doesn’t look like a barred rock.

Ah, well. Thats just what it was labelled as. I know they can have the brown coloring too.

I think you might have some thing a lot cooler than a barred rock. It might be a colored egg layer, maybe an olive Egger or if you’re really lucky maybe a Cream Leg bar. What other breeds did they have?

Olive egger. But she didnt look like an olive egger chick and like a barred so i only figured.

Well, go to Meyer Hatcheries website and look at the Olive Egger chicks. I think if they did have Olive Eggers were you got her, she is probably that breed.

Any reason for that tuft of feathers on her head? Was just wondering. Ive have many different breeds.

Well, olive Egger’s are mixed breeds and that tuft probably comes from being a mix of cream leg bar.

Did she end up being an Olive Egger? I have one that looks just like yours. I bought a BR and an Olive Egger, but figured they accidentally gave me 2 Barred Rocks. One has a mohawk, one doesn’t.
