Ok, so I made my 8x12 chicken coop on my porch, and here's my thoughts on it, so far.
#1. I have found out that we aren't allowed chickens where we live for some reason. Although, we can have pets of any kind, as long as they stay in the 'house '. Problem solved.

#2. Predator proof! We have 3 80+ # dogs that stay on the porch as well. Plus their run will be right along the chicken run. The dogs love the chicks, I even make one of them go out to get them back in at night. I just have to find a way to put up an aerial cover.

#3. Cheap! All I had to do is use what I already had on hand, plus, the main structure was already intact.

#4. I'm lazy. Therefore, in any kind of weather, we can let them out without having to go outside in the elements, or collect the eggs.

#5. I am constantly on the porch, so I get chicken TV all the time.

They say chickens are very dusty, but my porch is also dusty, so it doesn't really matter.

I have a few things I still have to do in the coop, but my oldest is only 9 weeks old, so I'll have time to figure out the nest boxes and such.

All in all, I'm very happy with this setup!!

Oh, I almost forgot, my brooder is in there too, so all the chickens can interact with each other, which is a good thing.
