My BO roo is turning white!

My 2 year old Buff Orpington roo is feathering out nicely after a moult, but he is turning white!

I know he gets plenty of protein in his diet, so that shouldn't be a factor.

Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?

Interesting. I have herd of that happening as they get older, and getting more white after each molt. Why I don't know...

I would say he has been out in the sun too much-----

when showing buff orpingtons or any buff birds it is advised to keep out of the sun so their feathers wont bleach out from exposure

I know that blues can get sun-bleached. Its why Suede has some brassiness in his hackles now, but I dont show him, so I'd rather him be out having fun in the sun. I can't think of any other reason your boy would be turning white.

I have a 5 year old Australorp hen that gets a few more white tips to her feathers with each moult. Age, I guess.
