so four days ago my hen went broody, on mothers day. this is her first time going broody and im not sure if she just does not know what to do or what but she is acting strange. so she is bottom of the pecking order so when the hens are in there they peck her until she gets up. well ive been shutting the coop door so she is the only on in the coop, well her and my bantam rooster. well i gave her infertile eggs and she sits on them most of the time. just about everytime i see her she is off the nest. she has been off just about all morning, and the eggs are getting cold so i am afraid to give her fertile eggs. when she is off the nest and i walk up to her she puffs up and makes that scream at me lol and acts like a broody, and i take her to her eggs and she will sit down and put them under her, but after a while she will get back off. im not sure what to do. tonight i was planing on moving her out of the fav laying box to a tote laying side ways on the ground so when the door is open the hens might not mess with her has much. but even when the coop door is shut and she has food ad water in the coop with her, she still wont sit on them. what should i do. ive had a broody hen before and this is actually the hens daughter that is broody, and idk if she just does not know what to do or what, but im getting worried she might break.

Broodies differ and in the beginning, they don't sit on the nest like they do later in the incubation period. They'll get off more often in the beginning, typically they'll lay & leave until they're clock says "done", then they set.

If she's being constantly bothered by the rest of the flock and you trying to help her out she is getting a lot of mixed signals and may decide the time and place is not appropriate for raising a family.

She had the coop to be self in the day time, but at night I think you are right, they mess with her and she had to sleep on the roost last night. I was thinking of moving her out of the favorite laying area, but the hens will still have access to her. Fo you think this would be ok

If she is being bothered that much it would be best to separate her completely.
so heres an update on my hen. when i see her ff her nest and i take her back to it she suddenly acts like a broody hen and sits on her eggs and does a little broody hen wiggle, after 20 mins she is back off the nest. and this is when the coop door is closed. tonight i was thinking of moving her so she can get some peace from the hens at night but once it is day time they will still have access to her.
