I have a broody who has been sitting for about five days now. I don't need chicks right now, so I am just going out there a few times a day and taking the eggs from under her. It is actually kind of funny-she will move from nest box to nest box as the other hens lay...luckily she is not mean and lets me take the eggs nicely, but how long will she do this? I have noticed that she comes out briefly for some food but then right back to sitting. I don't really want to have to do anything special to get her to stop. Will she do it on her own after the nesting period?
