I managed to move my broody hen and her 11 eggs today into the store room on her own because i felt i had to do it today because my 4week old chicks were jumping all over her this morning
so i got Ronnie (my broody hen) in a cat carrier and put the whole nest and eggs (i managed to get it all in one
) in a small cat basket then into a large cardboard box with chicken wire over the top and i made a little door in it so i can let her out in the store room tomorrow. I was worried about her not sitting back on them as she was quite scatty so i left her alone with the eggs for an hour and... she was sitting back on the eggs
I have put a drinker in the box so i will let her out tomorrow just in the store room (its just got dirt floor and a few straw/hay bales in there) so she can do her buisness.
How does this sound? i feel much better now she is safe indoors, im so exited!! i think she will produce some lovely babies.
This forum has been such a help thank you everybody!
