My broody hen

I have a young Turken (nacked neck) hen who was a 1st time mother about 1 month ago. Now she is sitting agian on the eggs just today...

I have a delivery coming in the mail of day old chicks coming in 2 weeks, 28 chicks in total.

When the day old chicks come in the mail, can I put them under the broody hen at night and trick her that it's her babys? Will it work?

I want to leave the broody hen to make her own chicks, but I dont need so many chicks, so that's why im thinking of doing this.

I don't think one little Naked Neck hen will take on 28 chicks.

if you leave her on dummy eggs it is likely that you will be able to slip some chicks under her wings at night.....but I'd give her 5 or 6.

Also make sure that the chicks are fed and watered before you give them to the potential momma.

I agree about the number of chicks to give the broody. Right now I have a LF Ameraucana on 8 eggs and the poor thing is so flat. I can't imagine trying to give a little NN more than just a couple of chicks to keep warm.
