First off, I want to say thanks for everyone who has posted ideas on here. It has been lots of help in designing my coop and feeder and waterer. Here is my setup. The feeder holds approx.15-18lbs of feed and the waterer holds just over 2 gallons. Any feed back is appreciated.

Here is the coop build

4" PVC with sight gauge

Horizontal nipples, lower one for Silky. Once they all get bigger I can raise it up and will put a 90 on the right side to exit the coop so if I ever need to flush the system, the water goes out of the coop.

That is a very nice build you have there. You have done a great job, I love the lowered nipple too, a very nice touch. I linked over and checked out your coop build as well, that is a fine setup you have there. You seem to have a gifted touch with building and or fabricating things. They are clean and look as nice as I suppose they work. A first rate build both coop and fixtures, well done.

I enjoy seeing nicely appointed builds, something quite nice on the eyes from the everyday scab, that will do, its only for chickens approach many seem to favor. I like your clean and elegant style.

I may change to cedar shakes on my build, I am in need of a nice roof like yours…

Best to you and your birds,

RJ

On the back of the water tube I see another attachment on it. Can you tell me what that is and what it is for? Your set up is the best I've seen and one I would like my hubby to help us achieve.
Thanks

That is a sight gauge so I can see how much water is in it. I used a 3/4" 90 degree hose barb on the outside with clear tube and on the inside is a 3/4" threaded coupling. It was the cheapest route instead of using a bulkhead. After I tightened it all the way I put some silcone around the outside because I haa small leak.

Thank you, I am the type to overthink/build things, but I wanted it to look nice since it is in my side yard so eveytime we are out back I see it. I love it when friends come over and comment on how much they like it and how nice it is, plus my wife was all for it as long as it didnt look like a shack.. My daughter is the one who wanted to add flowers to it so it looked "prettier"

I can't agree more with what an excellent job you have done all around, checked out your coop page too. I have been looking for waterer designs with a lowered section, as I have a handicapped guinea but dont want it too low for the rest of the flock. Yours is a great design and like the site gage to monitor water levels. Thanks for sharing!

Nice!

Question, with the feeder like that will it fill up properly? I had an issue with mine getting stuck but it was because the chickens could not peck at the elbow to get the food going. On my list of things to fix....

It is 4" PVC with a 90 on the bottom and a 22 degree. The first one I built went from 4" down to 2" but it bottle necked it to much so I switched it to all 4" and have no problems.
