My Call Ducks: Photos

Thought I'd post some pictures of my call ducklings. They are now two weeks old. The first photos were taken right after they were born. The later photos were taken today. They are currently in their awkward stage...

how many eggs did you start out with? They are beautiful, I am trying to find some call duck eggs or ducklings, apparently they are hard to come by.

I started out with 6 eggs that I got from a woman in Tennessee. 5 of those eggs hatched. Unfortunately, the 5th duckling got smothered/suffocated accidentally by his surrogate mom (a bantam cochin hen) a day or two after it was born. The duckling that never hatched developed the entire time, but died right before hatching. So, I ended up with the four you see in the later photos. They are very healthy and happy. You might try looking on eBay... I normally see an auction or two for call duck eggs. I'm currently looking for black east indies.

I think I might have you beat in awkwardness. This is my call baby. I am thinking it's a hen, but its name is Petey.
